History

Upward Spiral Studio is the expansion of the former Pilates@Green Street, originally founded by Martha Mason as the first certified Pilates studio in the State of Massachusetts in 1993. Now relocated and co-founded by Martha Mason, Paula Spina and Bess Whitesel, the new studio offers the highest quality instruction in both Pilates and the Gyrotonic Expansion System®. We are an affiliate studio for POWER PILATES®, based in New York City. Apprentice teachers in training can fulfill hours of observation in our studio.

All instructors at our studio teach classical Pilates and have completed a rigorous certification program spanning 600 hours either with Romana Kryzanowska, who inherited Joseph Pilates studio after he died in 1968, with POWER PILATES® or with PEAK PILATES®.
Our Gyrotonic instructors are certified through Gyrotonic®. We offer Pre-Trainings for Gyrotonic® certification. Contact us to find out more.
